Jeroen Swanink and Benji Schaub planning a shore diveShore Diving

Caribbean Gas Training looks back onto a long tradition of shore diving on Bonaire.
This reflects in a very professional but laid back attitude, we strive to provide every diver with the amount of care and assistance he/she needs.
We are also able to provide snacks and non-alcoholic cold drinks, if requested and can arrange a pick-up and transportation service to/from your place of stay, so you don’t have to rent your own vehicle in case you're planning on doing mostly boat dives, e.g. with BDA.
Our shore dive excursions are totally open with respect to the dive site, and suggestions or requests are welcome. However, we do reserve the right to deny a particular site due to safety issues, related to fitness, experience, gas choice and weather conditions.

All videos featured in this section have been filmed on a single dive at the respective site, in order to give a more realistic impression of the actual dive you will do with us. No stock footage of any kind was added to the clips.

Town Pier

This working pier has been the backbone for supplying the island with the necessary goods for a long time.
Enough time for it to become one of the best and most colorful night dives in the world.
Experience a mad artist's vision of violently splashing colors around and then populating the scene with the most outlandish creatures imaginable. Truly unforgettable.

Visit this classic deep wreck that ran aground in a fierce storm in 1912.
With the cargo of liquid tar still visibly spread out on the ocean floor below, this majestic tall sailing ship now lies peacefully and partially collapsed ready to be explored.
CGT is one of the few licensed dive operations cleared to guide divers on this world renowned site.
GUE certified divers preferred.

A room with a view... photo by Annouck LoosThe Windjammer Wreck penetration dive

The penetration of The Windjammer calls for advanced training and equipment.
We deem this dive one of the most exhilarating available in the world of wreck divng.
With the relatively recent toppling over of the wreck, who knows what has been uncovered?

CGT reserves the right to carefully establish eligibility for this dive.

The La Dania's Leap shore entry extravaganza, by Ralph CorreiaLa Dania's Leap drift dive

One way diving and no boat? Total commitment to waves and sheer cliffs?
We do this classic "boat dive" Capt. Don's way, from shore! Divers are rewarded by a stunning deep, vertical wall and a series of picturesque overhangs and crevices around 150'.
Out we go at Karpata, the next dive site down the road. It is possible to do Tech1 level dives here to truly appreciate the deep wall.

Lac Cai Barrier Reef

Large animals, and usually plenty of them, this is what characterizes the East Coast dive site of Lac Cai.
We dive the barrier reef that separates the shallow lagoon from the open ocean, and on the way we'll encounter several dozens of large Tarpons.
Public advisory: This dive may cause immense excitement due to Eagle Ray and Turtle encounters but strong swimming skills are a must!

The tallest Star Coral colony on Bonaire, photo by Chris FentonTaylor Maid

An unmarked site, applauded by most of our visiting divers as a must see dive.
See the coral reef the way it presented itself hundreds of years ago, with no visible damage from human impact and some of the healthiest and most trusting fish populations anywhere.
Make sure you have a good car and no hurry, since this dive is situated quite far north. Currents may be present.

Cruising the Salt Pier... photo by Annouck LoosSalt Pier

Another extreme example of how nature takes and transforms human efforts.
This working commercial pier is a welcome sheltering place for literally hundreds and hundreds of fish of all kinds.
The pilings are overgrown beautifully with sponges and coral and there's photo opportunities everywhere.

Hilma Hooker Wreck

This old drug-running tramp freighter that stranded on the island almost 25 years ago is Bonaire's signature wreck.
Frequented by virtually all divers that come to Bonaire, she's a very popular dive site.

Few know of her hidden beauty, and for divers with T1 or C1 qualification we can offer penetration dives into some of the interior spaces.

Colonial style anchor at Red Slave, video by Guy ShockeyRed Slave Anchors

Many ships have perished during Bonaire's long colonial history, most have long disintegrated and only traces remain.

This is especially true for the old salt loading sites like Red Slave at the far south end of the island.
Here you can explore numerous anchors, left during the centuries long maritime history of the salt trade, on a fascinating deep dive.

This East-Side dive site truly is not for the faint of heart.
Divers need to make clear risk-benefit decisions before jumping into the water from a 7-foot cliff with only a single exit. And then it's necessary to slip out of the water in sync with the swells...

An impressive wall, small cave and pristine coral reef make the choice easy with calm weather.
